My role as a postpartum doula is to support the resting period for the Mother after the birth. I massage the Mother, cook her healthy nourishing meals, run errands, assist with housekeeping, childcare dog walking, etc. My primary care-giving responsibilities are geared toward taking care of the Mom so she can best take care of her family.
